First live gig in a while for the Trowsers at the Tribute Night for Sandy Black - Le Bluesman pour les Bluesmen. A rerr terr of a night, and the band lined up with Davo, Kaysto, Futto, Crippo and Stevo on bass for the first time. |
| 05/11/2007 |
The band are back in the rehearseal studio and recording demos of new songs at K-Sound studio. Martin Bond has joined the band to replace Joe on bass, and he's a topper.
|
| 18/08/2007 |
Six months off, the lazy bawbags. Simply shocking. But, in truth and writ large, over 20 new songs written and in orchestration as you read this blether. |
| 26/03/2007 |
A sad day for the Trowsers with Joe deciding to leave the band and follow a different path. We all wish him well for the future.
|
| 10/02/2007 |
What a gig in Cambeltown. The band had a ball. Thanks to JG and LO particularly, but also to Lachie for his tolerance when a certain band member was being his usual self, and making a complete ass out of himself! |
| 22/01/2007 |
Line up for Campbeltown 3rd Feb is David, Ian, Joe, George, Vivien and Tim. Bring it on! A huge Trowsermelee promised and a few surprises. Standard stuff then. |
| 02/11/2006 |
Viv's put us up on MySpace www.myspace.com/hughtrowsersband |
| 11/09/2006 |
The Trowsers take a live break to head into the studio for the preparation of Album #2 from next week. Although they'll take a break from recording to live the dream live again with a Scottish tour in the autumn. Break city!

| 30/08/2006 |
The line-up for Perth Theatre on Saturday night is David Ian Joe George Vivien and Tim. The band is really looking forward to playing in such a wonderful place, and also looking forward to seeing Aberfeldy there the night before. |
| 20/08/2006 |
The boys and girl are just back from the Mull of Kintyre Festival. Knackered they are, but what memories! |
| 01/08/2006 |
Our first Mull of Kintyre Festival gig is confirmed for 18th August in Carradale. The venue is one of our favourites and we've got special guests - the legendary STRING DRIVEN THING ! Supporting us will be Ardrishaig songsters SYNTAX starring Stu of the long curly locks and late nite dancin' comes courtesy of Willie & the Hand Jive. Mmmm... Full details on the gigs page, and if it's half as good as the last Carradale gig we played then it's going to be sensational.
|
| 31/07/2006 |
A rasper of a festival with the sun shining and rain falling intermittently. Quite often at the same time. The band played well and (if commerce be the jury of life) outsold everyone else at the merch tent before the bleeding thing blew into the sea. Great crack and altogether a very well run festival. Bring on 2007 - the band'll be back in a flash. |
| 20/07/2006 |
Dunstaffnage Festival - The band are on the main stage around 7.30 on Friday 28th July. Our Mr Futter is on earlier with both the Box o' Bananas and the Shoes. |
| 17/07/2006 |
Dunstaffnage Festival line up is David Ian George Joe Vivien and Tim. The band are looking forward to this unique event and they'll be on the main stage around 3 on the Friday (28th July)
|
| 05/07/2006 |
Crieff line up is David Ian Joe George Vivien and Tim. The band are supported and hopefully you'll hear a few from Vivien solo as well. |
| 29/06/2006 |
Come see the band playing a hometown gig in Crieff near Perth on the 7th July. See the gigs page for details.

Wahey! Afterthe band's holiday from gravity with Gretna, News at Ten, and even the charts; it may look like they've taken a sabbatical to nourish their collective Ka. Well they haven't. They have worshipped at the altar of the Rock Lobster featuring Sabrina & Dr Mabusa and have been in the studio with none other than Mr Hugh Trowsers himself and a delicious London-based journalist who happens to have the finest range in a bird whae they hiv sampled like ever man. Yup, catch the whole story in the papers over the next few days.

Thanks to everyone who is buying the Gretna FC version of Living the Dream. The song entered the UK Indie Chart at no. 26 a fortnight ago and stayed there last week. http://www.karmadownload.com/artist/?257568 |

It took a while to get the f.o.s. sound right at last night's Bongo Club gig. The sound on the stage was the absolute pits throughout and the band were playing from memory. It's really tough to sing and play hearing nowt but melee. Still they battered on regardless like true pros. Lots of compliments from all over the world emailed in.

Watch our live show at Edinburgh's Bongo Club this Wednesday night streamed on www.nexusliveshow.com We're on with the excellent FO Machete and Information Control. See it live around 9 or watch it anytime after. We're on around 10. There may even be a surprise visitor. |
| 08/05/2006 |
What a ball at Gretna's Champions Party and Award Ceremony. Living the Dream is not going to be every Gretna supporter's favourite song, but to see a full dancefloor going mental and singing along was brilliant. What a buzz for the band! Especially to see both the Gaffer and Assistant Gaffer going the craziest. Cheers Brooks. |
| 06/05/2006 |
A great gig at Cameron House Hotel on Loch Lomondside on Thursday night. What a wonderful reception. |
| 01/05/2006 |
We joined Fred MacAulay on his BBC Scotland morning radio show today. Fred and guest presenter John Beattie were in great form, and laugh? We sure did. We sung "Mary" and "Living the Dream" and Brooks Mileson joined us for a blether.

The launch of the Gretna FC and the Hugh Trowsers band's video for our Living the Dream Cup Final song took place at Raydale last Thursday. What a brilliant crack and spots on Reporting Scotland, Sky Sports News, Radio galore and CBBC!

Gretna FC and the Hugh Trowsers band's "Living the Dream" is released on the 1st May, and will be available in all good shops and downloadable on the internet. More info to follow, but it looks like HMV are giving us the biggest support and if that ends up being the case we'd hope you would buy it there. It's also important for the chart position. Downloads look to be through hmv.co.uk again more details later. The single is launched to the Media throng on 27th April at Raydale. |

That was a mental couple of days of fantastic filming fun! Sunday’s set was the band down at Soundhaus in Glasgow recording band type mayhem in front of a green screen. Everyone was in good form and although it was a long day, Trevor the Director was a magnanimous leader; coaching and complimenting his way through from dawn to dusk.
Easter Monday saw the crew down at Annan early in the morning to catch Gretna FC’s training session, while the band wiled away the bright early hours in their scratchers after a wild night oot in Dumfries.
Everyone then met up at Gretna’s Raydale Park where the shenanigans began, and filming of players, band and Rocky the Rooster cavorting in the Solway sun was canned. As always with football related matters, there are a few injuries to report: Firstly, Davie cracked his skull on the overhead lockers on the Team Bus much to the delight of the nasty Gretna players, and then big Kenny Deuchar managed to smash a header via the bar onto temporary goalie Davie’s shades, smashing the lenses into his eye sockets and cutting right through the skin. That’s one black-eyed keeker this morning nae doubt. The Big Doctor was obviously frustrated with the goalkeeping prowess shown which kept out all of his net-bound screamers as the cameras rolled. On a happier note, the Joester developed feelings for club mascot Rocky the Rooster. He was planning on a plucky proposal when Rocky’s head fell off revealing a sturdy moustachioed man. Joester wasn’t fazed in the slightest and was last heard mentioning ‘henhouse’ once or twice before disappearing. Ian broke his personal best for the 20m sprint while chasing a misplaced Rowan Alexander keepie-up and crossed the tape in 1 hour 17 minutes and 32 seconds.

| 12/04/2006 |
Sweet cheeses! Sunday's on for the band to record their bit for the Gretna video. Then Monday the whole circus moves down to where it belongs in Gretna for all the players and Gretna FC staff to do their thang. Bring it on. Gretna for the cup. One game from history. |
| 12/04/2006 |
The Video for Gretna's "Living the Dream is well down the way. Davie, Ian and the Joester met with aaaTV last night to throw a storyboard together, and by chove, we've come up with a belter. If a'thing goes according to plan then filming takes place this Sunday and Monday and we hope to have it canned (if that's the expression) by the end of next week.
|
| 11/04/2006 |
Well then, that’s been some last few days. Davie, Ian and Martin were invited down to Gretna on Friday last for a meeting with Brooks, Rowan & Karen to investigate the possibilities of releasing our “Living the Dream” as Gretna FC’s Cup Final single. We’re delighted to report that the meeting went famously well, and the single’s almost as much of a go-er as the Jöester on a Saturday night out. David, Ian & Joe re-wrote the lyrics and sultry singing sensation Vivien Scotson was invited in to record the new lyrics too. Thankfully, the chorus remains as is, and the fabulous voices of Sam Brown and Laura Dunne can stay. We’re very fortunate to have three of the best female voices there are intermingling in a choral magnificence of aural ambrosia. And that’s saying something.
The players and staff of Gretna FC were doin’ their thang yesterday and had a ball recording their parts. Although Martin says that one or two were more bowlful of crocus than soulful chorus. I tell you, I should get that Gareth Law’s job at the Sun. It doesn’t get any better than that man.
The final mix and mastering was completed this afternoon, and the disc is now away for duplication with the completed artwork. Tonight David, Ian, Joe & Martin are down in Glasgow meeting the Video Production Company to prepare the storyboard. |
| 03/04/2006 |
Huge congratulations from the band to our Gretna favourites. We were represented at the game by Davie and his wee lad (although due to the miracle of free tickets they ended up in the Densmen's North Enclosure), and we're now living the Gretna dream too. Here's to the Final and singing Living the Dream in the the Stade de France against PSG in the Uefa Cup in the autumn.
|
| 31/03/2006 |
Big day tomorrow for Scottish Cup semi-finalists Gretna FC, and we're there with them cheering them on. Our "Living the Dream" is already piped through the Gretna FC telephone system and gets played on matchdays. C'mon Gretna - get intae them Dark Blues (no offence Dundee fans) |
| 26/03/2006 |
Cheers Katherine and Rhona. What a night! A helluva lot of compliments for our performance, which, if I say so mysel', was top drawer. WE LOVE KINTYRE! |
| 01/03/2006 |
The band are booked to play the Royal Hotel in Campbeltown on the 25th March 2006. Tickets are available from the Royal Hotel and are priced at £8 each. Support will come from Ardrishaig duo "Syntax". Doors at 8. |
| 14/02/2006 |
Thanks to Radio Newcastle for giving us a blast and for their wonderful comments. H'way the Lads. One Hand in the Air etc...
|
| 14/02/2006 |
Cheers again to Iain Anderson for saying such good things about Ruin's Wheel on Friday night. We were just back in from the Muthill Burns Night, so it was sweetly appropriate. |
| 28/01/2006 |
Thanks to Janice Long for playing "She Might be Here" on Radio 2 this week and to Iain Anderson for giving "Ruin's Wheel" a blast on Radio Scotland |
| 23/01/2006 |
We hope you're up for a Hugh Trowsers band gig at the Royal Hotel in Campbelltown in March. Tickets info out as soon as I have it.
|
| 17/01/2006 |
Our thanks again to Iain Anderson for playing Slow Down on his show on BBC Radio Scotland again last night. Unlike the balderdash we told Tom Morton we do get a buzz from getting played. |
| 16/01/2006 |
Well we had a ball at Celtic Connections, and we think that the audience did too. The crowd was varied in taste and age group, and we weren't sure whether the more trad celtic fans would sink luxuriously into wir groove baby, but they seemed to. Injuries were kept to a minimum, with only 4 flummoxed Grannies needing and receiving treatment for minor wounds. |
| 10/01/2006 |
The Trowsers are playing at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow on Sunday 15th January as part of the Celtic Connections festival. We're on the Danny Kyle Stage in the Exhibition Hall some time between 5 and 7. |
| 04/01/2006 |
A richt guid New Year to ane an' a'. We all had a great sabbatical, and are now working hard to have gigs news for you soon. We're planning a short tour in February and March and we'll have a Gigs page posted shortly to keep you up to speed. See you soon!

| 23/12/2005 |
Season's greetings to one and all. It's been some year with the release of our debut, countless radio plays across the world, and great things predicted for us by the great and good of Scottish Music. 2006 will be hard work for us as we gig like crazy trying to get further breakthroughs. Thanks for all of your support and good wishes. See you in 2006.
Hugh and the boys.

| 14/12/2005 |
Happy Birthday to the Joester! Actually it was Monday, but we all forgot.
|
| 12/12/2005 |
What a fabulous weekend! Another wonderful visit to the Kintyre peninsula with a great live broadcast on Argyll FM's Les Oman show. The boys played an acoustic set and spun a few of their favourite tracks from other artists. Live Acoustic Trowsers, The Incredible String Band, Thin Lizzy, Japan, and Little Feat all on the same show? Bizarre. Thanks Les (and Kay). Next came an acoustic Saturday night gig in the Masonic Hall in Campbeltown (thanks to Lachie the Bard and Maureen - but we must say sorry to the beautiful young Bochans for not fitting in Living the Dream) and a further Sunday afternoon acoustic gig in Tarbert, Loch Fyne, at MACK and MAGS - thanks to Brian and Kate.
|
| 11/11/2005 |
The Acoustic Trowsers will be playing uncontrolled acoustic versions of a couple of songs from the album and spinning a selection of favourite acoustic numbers on Argyll FM's "Les Oman's Acoustic Alternative" on December 10th, entitled "Les Oman's Alternative Trowsers" for the night. |
| 08/11/2005 |
Thanks to Iain Anderson for playing "Slow Down" on his mighty fine Radio Scotland show last night. |
| 05/11/2005 |
Our West-coast 'helper' Bobbly Juck has gone missing. We've been delighted with his assistance over the last couple of months. He's been an excellent roadie, snuffling about until his beak breaks, and was beginning to come to terms with amplification, knobs and electricity. If your reading this Bobberz - get in touch, even to let us know you're ok.
|
| 27/10/2005 |
We've been asked to provide the music for a major TV Christmas advertising campaign for a top retail chain in the Republic of Ireland. We've written two new pieces of 1 minute 10 seconds pop perfection. One song 'Get Noticed' is an absolute stonker. It will join our live repertoire immediately, and will find a place on album 2, for schuwer. We might even extend it out dramatically to 3 minutes, or as our new friend Bert Fegg would say 'three MINUTES'. |
| 19/10/2005 |
Back from Cyprus and back to the grind that is Rehearsalville FLA. Joester has broken a finger the poor soul, and will be out of commission for a little whiley. |
| 09/10/2005 |
So I'm in Cyprus and it's glorious except for the football obviously. C'est la vie, as they say here in the French Qtr of Protaras. The whole place is feckin' Karaoke crazy with no respite and the old soundalikees are everywhere posing as Elvis, Neil Diamond etc... And boy! Are they sh1te.
|
| 29/09/2005 |
The Hugh Trowsers band's debut album is to be launched on November 26th at a secret location in front of a very select bunch of dudes. Fair to say that there'll be a few kilts swaying and a few libations quaffed. This is going to be an album launch with a difference.
|
| 26/09/2005 |
Schooperb fun in Carradale on Friday and Saturday. Gig was great, craic was 100, locals fantastic, Big Lachie Audrey and Nonnie immense, Les and Mick and the Wild Sarachs magnifico, DJ KJ in foottappin' nirvana. Thanks to all, epecially the three subs that turned out for Saturday's game and saved a dodgy performance of diving, shirt-tugging, and cheating. Annie's now got a 'Carradale AFC forever' tattoo on her bum. |
| 20/09/2005 |
Janice Long is playing a Hugh Trowsers tune from the album tonight 20th September on her Radio 2 show. Janice played "Stronger than the Girl" on her show on October 19th. |
| 18/09/2005 |
Line up fixed for Carradale.
David - Vocals, ac. guitar
Iain - Vocals, lead guitar
Joe - Vocals, bass
George - Vocals, fiddle
Andy - Vocals, drums
We're delighted that Andy is coming across from Limerick and he's right up for it. There's going to be some furious rehearsing on Saturday afternoon.
|
| 14/09/2005 |
Here, we're gigging on the 24th September in Carradale, Kintyre at the hall. We're playing on the same bill as the Wild Sarachs, and they'll probably be the Furious Sarachs by the time they find out that the Joester has raided their wallets when they're on stage.
|
| 06/05/2005 |
The album is finished. Final mix and mastering complete. Release day is planned for the 19th September 2005. Marketing and promotional plan in the making. |
| 17/04/2005 |
Kipper has completed the CORNER and BOOMERANG edits, and he's done a fantastic job. They are sounding schweet as a flowing burn, and Sam Brown's vocals are intertwined vibrantly and effectively. Sam will be very pleased with the job the Kipper's done. Only mastering left to do and then the album's away for duplication and release on AHEM Records. |
| 11/04/2005 |
Sam Brown came down to record with the band on Friday in Glasgow. She has laid down her perfection on Corner and Boomerang and her signature is penned across the already huge songs. Sam's voice cuts through like a scythe through a field of gange, and Kipper's re-editing the songs like a crazed fish. The first cursory mix has already produced an aural banquet. |
| 24/03/2005 |
Who said patience is a virtue? Well it wiznae me. It's taken a long time, but the Hugh Trowsers band are proud, excited, and honoured to have the wonderful Sam Brown agree to feature on the album. Sam's vocal talents are astonishing, and she is going to sing jv's and backing vox. Sam's in on the 8th April in Glasgow to record before playing at Edinburgh's Venue that evening. |
| 12/03/2005 |
Tim Gray has joined the band full time as our drummer, and he's a terrific asset, much as we'll miss Krippen. We'll have to work on Sandy's parts and decide whether to recruit or contain within the present set-up. |
| 06/03/2005 |
We played two live gigs to see how we're coming along. The first was at an Emergenza night in Glasgow's Ivory Black's. We had a ball, although Andy's flight from Limerick was delayed as only a Ryanair plane can be, and he turned up ten minutes before we were due on. He played like a true pro and was sensational until after the show when he collapsed like a block of Gorbals flats. The second gig was part of a Tsunami benefit in Perth, and the band were treeeemendoos. We were fantastically lucky to get a femvox the quality of Eryn Strachan in on short notice to help us out at the gigs. She's brilliant, and hopefully she'll want to remain part of the live roster. |
| 14/12/2004 |
Kevin Higgins has joined the band on bass. Kevin is a fantastic musician with long experience of playing live and is a big asset to have in the band. Raymond Weir has also joined and he is a fantastic keyboard player and guitarist with a great vocal. We're in the rehearsal studio again on Saturday working on our live sound, and we are rockin'. |
| 09/11/2004 |
OK that was some couple of weeks. Half of the video for CORNER is now in the can. We were down at Mugdock Castle filming with MusicStars Productions and the bairns were all fantastic in their parts. Die Kippermäus und Der Käister have been mixing like crazy and everything is just about there. We await the mysterious Queen of the Nightingales to see if she'll lead on FLEMING, and we'll hear on Wednesday if she is game. George Futter's fiddle and Stevie Gillies guitar have sent MARY and LAMENT to outer space to find the Grand Overseer. There the angels worked their own magic, and the songs have gone from magnificent to more magnificent. EUSEBIO has been sent out to one of Portugal's foremost DJs, and to a big Portuguese Indie. Good times for tHTb. We now go into rehearsal mode, starting this week-end coming at the Lighthouse in Embra and The Core in Glesca. |
